Continuing his impressive run of diverse releases, Melbourne/Naarm artist OX4ORD returns with his latest single, ‘VISIONS’. Building on his unique sound, the Psychedelic Hip-Hop fusion delivers refreshingly candid lyrics and sonics alike. The record is set to release on October 13th via Hy-Lo Creative, and follows the explosive collaboration “OKOK” with VOLDY and IJALE (released in July).

VISIONS sees OX4ORD peel back the curtain on his front-facing character and aesthetic. The record gives audiences a new perspective on the emerging artist, who takes centre stage to deliver his inner thoughts and reflections with poignant lyricism touching on themes of self-doubt, worth, and everything in between.

These themes are carried through the record’s production, handled by YAAK. Listeners are taken on a journey through cascading guitar chords and swirling effects, contrasted by snappy drums and booming 808’s. The song also gives audiences a glimpse into OX4ORD’s singing which was teased in previous releases ‘SAY NOTHIN’’ & ‘OKOK’; here, re-pitched vocals dazzle, illuminating the difference between his internal dialogue and the image that audiences are used to seeing as OX4ORD.

On the song, OX4ORD said:

“With VISIONS, I wanted to take a step away from the dance-centric sound that I’ve put out recently. It was an opportunity for me to give people a glimpse behind the mask; it’s honest, it’s raw, and it’s a sound that you’re going to get more of from me moving forward”

To compliment the song’s layered yet simplistic feel, OX4ORD has released a music video shot by Dylan Guy and produced by his label Hy-Lo Creative. Appearing with quiet bravado, OX4ORD is backdropped by scenes of Melbourne’s inner city awash with the dazzling light of a winter dawn, further connecting viewers to his psyche and the calming nature of his resolved feelings.

Although relatively new to the scene, OX4ORD has flourished these last six months with singles ‘PARAMETERS’, ‘SAY NOTHIN’ and ‘OKOK’ dominating Spotify and Apple playlists (NMF, The Flavour, The Drip etc.) and radio (including Triple J, FBi Radio, iHeart etc.). His singles and videos have been selected by Complex, Acclaim and Purple Sneakers as best of the week/month and have earned features with outlets such as Music Feeds, Tone Deaf and AUD$ as well as his last release ‘OKOK’ charting number #1 on Vevo Hip-Hop/Rap Playlists and promptly being made cover for the mainstay playlists. With VISIONS, OX4ORD continues to establish his name as a multifaceted artist, and people are taking note - He most recently took part as talent lead on campaigns with celebrated brands NEUW Denim and Royal Stacks and can was seen recently performing at Section 8.
